Leadership South Carolina’s Class of 2016 announces plans for the inaugural South Carolina Day of Service for May 21, 2016 as its class project. “We have thoughtfully worked to develop a project that reflects the positive spirit and grace that South Carolinians have shown on the world stage over the past year,” said Steven Buckingham, a class member and Greenville attorney. The class of 2016 is comprised of 53 individuals from a variety of business and trades, industries, organizations, and government entities.

Charleston area members of this year’s class are:

  • Collin Bruner, Sentry Management
  • Shawn Edwards, The Citadel
  • Stani Fowler, Dixon, Hughes, Goodman
  • Henry Frampton, McNair Law Firm
  • Claire Gibbons, Charleston Regional Development Alliance
  • Mark Munn, Bank of America
  • Roger Schwartz, Charleston Co Aviation Authority
  • Chris Tobin, College of Charleston

South Carolina Day of Service on May 21, 2016 will enable South Carolinians to:

  • Give back to their community in a meaningful and simple way
  • Fulfill unmet community challenges and needs through activities, such as checking on neighbors, picking up litter, beautification projects, or repairing a building. The list is limitless.
  • Unite to celebrate community service
  • Act as one voice for activities and unmet needs

This event celebrates South Carolina and is an opportunity for residents to renew their own personal commitment to community through service to others and engage in conversations to advance community goals. “The Day of Service is designed to include everyone throughout the state, because service to others does not require special skills or abilities. The only requirement is a willingness to give some time and effort to improve the community,” said Buckingham.
