May 15, 2016

SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce honored 42 graduates of the Leadership Spartanburg (LS) program class of 2015-2016 at a ceremony at The Country Club of Spartanburg on Thursday, May 12.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley provided a keynote address to the graduates, encouraging the class to continue their momentum of leadership and community activism for “team South Carolina.”

The 2015-2016 Leadership Spartanburg class kicked off the program in September 2015 with an overnight retreat that focused on team building. Over the course of nine months, the class participated in monthly activities to enhance their understanding of the history of Spartanburg; local and state government; community health and social issues; education; arts and culture, recreation and quality of life; environmental and resource management; economic development; and Spartanburg’s future.
