Lexington County Sandhills Collection and Recycling Center announce temporary closure

October 26, 2016

The County of Lexington Department of Solid Waste announces a temporary closure of the Sandhills Collection and Recycling Center, located at 3241 Charleston Highway, as construction at the site reaches its final stages.

Improvements include the addition of capacity to process solid waste and the construction of a new entrance to the facility located at the traffic light intersection on Route 321 (Charleston Highway) with the Lexington County Industrial Park.  The new entrance will significantly improve the safety of residents entering the Center.

The contractor will require the temporary closure of the Sandhills Collection and Recycling Center on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 to complete final concrete pours on the facility.

The Center will re-open as normal on Friday, November 4th and residents will be able to use the new signaled entrance/exit for the first time. All other County Collection and Recycling Centers will be open on Wednesday, November 2nd.
