Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announces promotions and transfers

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon recently promoted six deputies, two civilian employees and transferred two deputies and two correctional officers.

Tammy Chandler, Steve Collins, Joel Cooper, Bill Finch, Gerald Gerity

 

Tammy Chandler, 48, has been promoted to project coordinator in human resources. Chandler, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a human resources specialist. She was hired in April 2013.

Steve Collins, 47, has been promoted to sergeant in the patrol division. Collins, a resident of Lexington, previously served as an investigator. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in December 2000.

Joel Cooper, 41, has been promoted to school resource officer. Cooper, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a deputy in the department’s west region, which is based near Gilbert. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in September 2015.

Bill Finch, 48, has been transferred to sergeant in the Chapin district. Finch, a resident of Chapin, previously served as a sergeant in the department’s north region, which is based near Irmo. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in January 1997.

Gerald Gerity, 55, has been transferred to front desk specialist. Gerity, a resident of Leesville, previously served as a correctional officer. He was hired in April 2013.

Lori Gerity, Franklin McFalls, Mandy Newton, James Stokes, Jason Stoner

 

Lori Gerity, 46, has been transferred to records technician. Gerity, a resident of Leesville, previously served as a correctional officer. She was hired in May 2014.

Franklin McFalls, 26, has been promoted to school resource officer. McFalls, a resident of Columbia, previously served as a deputy in the department’s south region, which is based near Pelion. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in November 2014.

Mandy Newton, 55, has been promoted to human resources specialist. Newton, a resident of Lexington, previously served in the finance division. She was hired in October 2015.

James Stokes, 31, has been promoted to criminal investigator. Stokes, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a school resource officer. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in January 2012.

Jason Stoner, 45, has been transferred to sergeant in the traffic division. Stoner, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a sergeant in the department’s west region, which is based near Gilbert. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in January 2002.

Benjamin Strock, Matt Young

 

Benjamin Strock, 40, has been promoted to school resource officer. Strock, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a deputy in the department’s north region, which is based near Irmo. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April 2015.

Matt Young, 36, has been promoted to sergeant in the patrol division. Young, a resident of West Columbia, previously served as a detective in the department’s west region, which is based near Gilbert. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in November 2007.
