Lexington County to provide containers for debris removal

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC – Lexington County is in the planning process to provide roll-off containers in major affected areas for residents to dispose of storm debris. Residents in the Pineglen subdivision and the Wilton Hill Rd. area should contact the information line (785-2718 or 785-8613) to provide a location for placement. Containers will be placed and collected by waste collection firms.

Accepted debris includes:
·Wood and yard waste
·Furniture
·Construction materials, siding, shingles, etc.
·Concrete/asphalt

Please do not place household waste or hazardous waste in the containers. Special arrangements will be made for hazardous waste collection.

Residents with curbside waste collection should place household waste in normal containers for collection. Residents not serviced by a curbside collection firm should use County Collection and Recycling Centers. A list of County Collection and Recycling Centers is available at www.lex-co.sc.gov under Solid Waste Management. Special arrangements will be made for the collection of hazardous waste.

Lexington County Schools
Districts 1, 2, 5 have canceled classes for tomorrow, Oct. 8. District 4 will operate on a two-hour delay. District 3 will be on a normal schedule.

Shelters
Two Lexington County shelters are open.
-Lexington Leisure Center, 109 Park Road in Lexington
-Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Lane in Irmo

Road closures
More than 70 roads are closed in Lexington County. Stay alert for barricades, cones and other signage. Road closure information is available here.

Information lines
Lexington County residents should call 785-2718 or 785-8613 for information on disaster recovery. Individuals interested in donating time or supplies to assist with the flood response in Richland County should call 888-585-9643.

 

Lexington County government offices
All Lexington County government offices will be OPEN tomorrow. This will include the following offices:

·Lexington County Recreations and Aging Commission Offices and Activities
·County Sheriff’s Department
·County Judicial Facilities
·County Administration offices
·Lexington County Magistrate Courts
·Solid Waste Collection & Recycling Centers
·Lexington County Landfill & Solid Waste Administrative Offices
·Marc H. Westbrook Judicial Center

 

However, by order of the Chief Justice of the S.C. Supreme Court, all court matters for General Sessions, Common Pleas and Family Court have been canceled for the remainder of the week. If you have an emergency, please contact the Clerk of Court’s office.

 

In addition, if you received a summons for jury duty this week DO NOT report, you will receive a new summons in the near future. If you have any questions, please contact the Clerk of Court’s office.

Bond Court
Court will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Curbside Solid Waste Collection
Franchise Residential Solid Waste Curbside Collection service will be provided along safe and passable routes tomorrow,Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, in the unincorporated areas of Lexington County. Service is for Household Garbage Only and will run on an adjusted pickup schedule for the rest of the week.

 

Advanced Disposal Customers:  Collections normally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was made on Wednesday,Wednesday will move to Thursday, Thursday to Friday and Friday to Saturday.
Waste Industries Customers:  Collections normally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was made on Wednesday, Wednesdaywill move to Thursday, Thursday to Friday and Friday to Saturday.
