Lexington Medical Center Names Co-Chairs of Estate Planning Advisory Board

WEST COLUMBIA, SC –  December 23, 2008 – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to announce that Donny Burkett and David Hipp are the new Co-Chairs of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation Estate Planning Advisory Board.  The Estate Planning Advisory Board educates the community about charitable giving and estate planning options with the hospital.

Donny Burkett is a partner at Burkett, Burkett & Burkett CPAs, P.A., a life-long resident of South Carolina and a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He is also a partner of Burkett Financial Services, LLC and of Resource One Health Management Service, LLC, which provides management and tax advice to more than 100 medical practices in South Carolina.  Mr. Burkett is the president of Airport High School’s Educational Foundation and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  In addition to his membership, he is a team member of AICPA’s Vision Project which seeks to develop vision and direction for CPAs for the future.  He previously has been president of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Central Chapter of Certified Public Accountants, the Cayce/West Columbia Civitan Club and the Cayce Rotary Club.   Money Magazine recognized Mr. Burkett as one of four best tax practitioners available for middle and upper-middle income taxpayers in South Carolina.

David Hipp is an attorney with the Dooley Law Firm.  Previously, he was a trust banker with The Lexington State Bank and BB&T of South Carolina.  He received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1977.  While at the University of South Carolina, he also received a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration.  Mr. Hipp is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Lexington County Bar.  He is a member of the probate section of the South Carolina Bar and has served on the executive committee of the Lexington County Bar.  He was Chairman of the Trust Committee for the South Carolina Bankers Association and has been a member of the Columbia Estate Planning Council since 1980.  Mr. Hipp has served on the Lexington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and continues to serve on the board for the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter.
