September 23, 2016

Five Lexington County School District One graduates are among the 2016 Central Carolina Community Foundation scholarship recipients.

The leading Midlands philanthropy group, Central Carolina Community Foundation awarded 94 scholarships totaling $236,648 to some of South Carolina and the country’s most outstanding students. Scholarship awards come from 37 funds managed by the Foundation.

“Our scholarship funds are just one of the many ways that donors in our community work with the Foundation to make a difference in the Midlands,” said JoAnn Turnquist, CCCF president and CEO. “Through the generosity of our fundholders, these students now have the opportunity to achieve their academic goals without the financial burden that often accompanies a college education. We congratulate each of our scholarship recipients and wish them well as they continue to learn and grow.”

Scholarship recipients from Lexington One are as follows:

• Allison Harman, Gilbert High School — Gilbert Ruritan Scholarship
• Morgan Nichols, Lexington High School — Milford H. Wessinger Scholarship Fund
• Sean Powers, Lexington High School — Milford H. Wessinger Scholarship Fund
• Kristen Davis, White Knoll High School — Milford H. Wessinger Scholarship Fund, SC Arms Collectors Association
• Kiersten Addy, White Knoll High School — S.C. Arms Collectors Association
