Lexington One promotes Nester to LMS principal

LEXINGTON, SC – The Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Gloria B. Nester during a special board meeting on June 9, 2016.

Currently an assistant principal, Nester is remaining at Lexington Middle School and taking on the added responsibilities of principal after current LMS principal Ryan Pool moves to the District Office.

A Spanish teacher for much of her career, first in Ohio and later at Hammond School in Columbia and Ridge View High School in Blythewood, Nester joined Lexington One in 2000.

She taught Spanish at White Knoll Middle School before being promoted to the district office as a technology integration specialist in 2004. She was again promoted to assistant administrator at Lexington Middle in 2012 and became assistant principal there in 2014.

Accolades for Nester include White Knoll Middle Teacher of the Year in 2003 and Lexington Middle Teacher of the Year in 2010.

Nester earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English from Kent State University and a Master of Education in educational administration from Ashland University.

She is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
