Lexington One Promotes Watson

LEXINGTON, SC — At a Special Called Board Meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees held May 31, 2014, the board approved the promotion Sherry R. Watson to the position of director of school counseling and advisement at Gilbert High for the 2014–2015 school year.

Watson, who currently serves as a school counselor at Gilbert High, has 26 years of school counseling experience.

She began her career in 1986 as a counselor at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia. She moved to the Charleston County School District in 1988 as a school counselor at Morningside Middle School moving to Middleton High School in 1992.

In 1994, Watson joined Lexington One as a school counselor at Lexington High School moving to Gilbert High in 2004. At GHS, Watson has planned college application days and college fairs, curriculum nights, financial aid information meetings and senior parent nights. She served on the Lexington One School Counseling Curriculum Team.

Watson earned a Bachelor of Science in mass communications and psychology with a minor in business administration and a Master of Education in school counseling from East Tennessee State University. She is certified in K–12 school counseling.
