LHS students earn recognition at math competition

Lexington County School District One congratulates three Lexington High School students who earned recognition at the College of Charleston Math Meet 2016, held on February 27 in Charleston.
 
LHS Sophomore Brandy Barfield was one of 14 winners in the Junior Varsity Timed Sprint in Word Puzzles. Andy Hu, an LHS sophomore, won an Honorable Mention award in the Written Test Level 2. Griffin McMillan, an LHS junior, was one of 24 winners in the Varsity Timed Sprint in Word Puzzles.
 
The College of Charleston Math Department conducts the annual Math Meet in order to give bright high school students an opportunity to take part in exciting and innovative math competitions. The Math Meet encourages students from high schools in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to excel in mathematics and exposes students to cutting-edge research in mathematics. The event requires students to utilize their skills in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and other subjects.
