Literary Landmark Expands: M. Judson Booksellers Celebrates Grand Opening in Fountain Inn

June 17, 2026

Downtown Fountain Inn’s commercial boom reached a major milestone this week as one of the Upstate’s most celebrated independent bookstores officially planted roots on Main Street.

The Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce hosted a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening of M. Judson Booksellers. The celebratory event took place at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, welcoming local leaders, business owners, and avid readers to the new cultural hub.

Expanding the Story to Fountain Inn

The new storefront, located at 109 North Main Street, represents the first major expansion for the beloved independent bookstore. Since its initial launch in downtown Greenville back in 2015, M. Judson has evolved into a staple literary destination.

Fountain Inn was chosen for the second location due to its vibrant historical pride, rapid population influx, and thriving community of young families. Store organizers expressed immense enthusiasm about integrating into the area, noting their goal is to build a customized neighborhood bookstore that accurately reflects its unique place and local people.

At 2,200 square feet, the new space is roughly half the size of the original Greenville flagship but preserves an immense amount of historic character. The meticulously renovated building highlights beautiful original architecture, including polished concrete floors and an intricate pressed-tin ceiling.

Books, Bites, and Regional Charm

The Main Street bookstore aims to replicate the unique blend of retail and community interaction that drove the success of its original location. Patrons visiting the shop can browse a highly curated selection of inventory, including:

  • Diverse Genres: Shelves stocked with a deep selection of new releases, bestsellers, poetry, and dedicated Southern literature.

  • Enhanced Kids’ Section: A specially emphasized youth literacy department tailored to local families.

  • Local Gifts: A selection of unique stationery and regional gift items sourced from artists across the Upstate.

  • Cafe Offerings: A casual array of pastries alongside select beer and wine options to enjoy while reading.

Following the successful ribbon cutting, the bookstore is operating under its regular weekly hours, greeting customers from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.
