Local Author Book Signing August 18

Laurens County author Walter Allen will be holding a book signing Thursday, August 18, 5:00-7:00 pm, at the Square Roots Store, 115 East Laurens Street, Laurens, SC.
Allen is a graduate of Auburn University and is retired from the paper industry. He has been a volunteer at Musgrove Mill State Historic site and participates in colonial period re-enactments by demonstrating 18th century surveying. Allen has presented lectures at local museums and various civic organizations on colonial era surveying.
Currently Allen is serving as president of the Laurens County Museum Association.
The story for his books is set in historic Charleston SC and upstate backcountry during the mid 1700’s. He has published two books in a series of three historical novels based on his Irish ancestor Robert Steele – ‘The Adventures of Robert Steele’ and ‘Back Country Trails’. The first two books are in their second printing. The third book in the series will be published in 2023.
