Local Boy Scouts Organization to Honor Eagle Scouts and Volunteers

COLUMBIA, SC – March 19, 2009 – The Indian Waters Council, Boy Scouts of America will present its 2008 Council Recognition Banquet at the Embassy Suites in Columbia on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 6:30pm. The Banquet will recognize those present of the 144 Eagle Scouts of 2008, a feat only 5% of Scouts attain, and a record number for the Council. The 2008 Eagle Class has been named in honor of a special volunteer who devoted much service to Scouting in the Indian Waters Council, Douglas “Bud” Dowler. Mr. Dowler will be making remarks directed to the Eagle Scouts as their leadership roles continue into the future for the communities in which they live.
The highlight of the program will be the presentation of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award a Council may bestow upon a volunteer. The award is being presented to six most deserving honorees: Chris Hall, David Leech, Oliver Kolb, Tony McCluney, Dr. Ed Moore, and Charles Potok.
Other Council awards include the National Centennial Quality Council, Volunteer Event Chairpersons and Venturing Leader Awards.
