SeamonWhiteside participated in the Palmetto 200, Brain Tumor Walk, and Hard Hats with Heart Events

SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a leading landscape architecture and engineering firm, recently participated in its fifth Palmetto200 benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), its third Charleston Brain Tumor Walk benefiting the National Brain Tumor Society and its first Hard Hats with Heart event benefiting the American Heart Association.

With this year’s participation in the Palmetto200, SeamonWhiteside raised just under $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society bringing their total fundraising efforts for this organization to $34,000 over the last five years. They have been ranked as the number one fundraising team for the Brain Tumor Walk benefitting the National Brain Tumor Society by raising $5,700 this year. In Charleston’s inaugural Hard Hats with Heart event, SW+ raised over $51,000 for the American Heart Association.

“Our involvement in these events is a fun way for our company to bring awareness to these causes and join the community in raising money to find treatments and cures,” said Gary Collins, Managing Principal of SeamonWhiteside. “We are proud to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the National Brain Tumor Society, the American Heart Association and many other organizations and are looking forward to future involvement.”

The Palmetto200 partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the seventh year in a row. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers and any support they receive helps fund lifesaving treatments. LLS has funded research leading to 26 FDA approvals for blood cancer patients in the last 18 months alone.

The Brain Tumor Walk supports a cause very close to the hearts of the SeamonWhiteside team as the company participates in honor of Kenny Seamon, one the beloved principals at SeamonWhiteside. Last year the company came in second place for the top fundraising team and this year “Team Kenny” placed first. The National Brain Tumor Society is committed to finding a cure for brain tumors and invests in research for treatments. Passionate about the cause, SeamonWhiteside supports the organization’s work towards a cure however possible.

SeamonWhiteside’s philanthropic efforts this year also include involvement in American Heart Association’s Hard Hats with Heart inaugural event in Charleston. Not only was there company-wide involvement, but Stuart Whiteside, Principal of SeamonWhiteside, was the chairman of the event.

“Stuart Whiteside was instrumental in launching this new initiative for the constructive industry. His commitment to the health and wellness of not only his employees, but the entire community, was a motivating factor for many other leaders to support the mission of the American Heart Association,” said Liz Briggs, Director of Development for the American Heart Association. “SeamonWhiteside had the opportunity to showcase their culture of wellness and lead by example for all of the event attendees.”

Hard Hats with Heart benefits the American Heart Association’s work to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, specifically aimed towards the construction industry’s elevated risk. With Stuart’s campaign efforts and SeamonWhiteside’s involvement, they raised over $51,000 for the cause. The company looks forward to making the event a tradition.

SeamonWhiteside continues to support company involvement with other charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, The Green Heart Project, and more. The company remains focused on aligning with key community partners to form long-standing and impactful relationships.
