Local Musician Generates Buzz with New Album

Album Set to Release on January 17, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia, South Carolina based singer-songwriter Dave Britt, formerly of The Rival Brothers, has set the release date of his highly-anticipated sophomore album for January 17, 2015.

Britt has been influencing the music scene in Columbia for years. He has gone from writing and producing music to owning a music venue, booking concerts, and organizing festivals like the Rosewood Crawfish Festival. He is a musician, businessman and entrepreneur, and has applied all of those skills in the creation of his new album, “Waiting for a Brighter Sun”.
“I had pretty much stopped writing and producing music six years ago,” said Dave Britt, musician. “At the end of 2013, I took a class on music production from NYU and it rekindled the desire to create.”

Britt used his entrepreneurial mindset to develop an unconventional approach to create, record and produce this album. He took online classes from the Berklee College of Music and began to learn how to record songs at home. It proved to be a frustrating yet incredibly rewarding experience.

“I took what I learned from these free online classes and put it to use to record my songs,” said Britt. “This album is a culmination of a lot of lessons learned and hundreds of hours of work.”

Britt built a studio at his house and learned how to produce his own album. The majority of the album was recorded at his home, and he then took that work to a local recording studio to finish and polish the album.

The result is “Waiting for a Brighter Sun”, a six track album full of passionate and charismatic songs that are a unique blend of folk, rock and pop. The album is generating buzz and is currently charting 96th on the ReverbNation Alternative charts for the U.S.

The album has also opened a door for Britt in Atlanta, where he has been extended a special invitation to work with famed record producer Rick Beato. Beato has worked with artists like Switchfoot and Shinedown and is closely tied to SONY records.

Britt is planning a ten date Southeastern tour to promote the new album. The tour will kick off with the album release party at the Art Bar in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday, January 17, 2015. It is a 21 and over show and tickets are $5.
