Local nonprofit “The TWLUM Teen Project” announces call for volunteers to mentor area youth

June 16, 2026

The TWLUM Teen Project, a local grassroots organization dedicated to youth development, has officially announced an open call for volunteers. The nonprofit is seeking dedicated individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about making a positive, lasting impact on the lives of young people throughout Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties.

Founded by Tyrone Wilson, The TWLUM Teen Project was born out of a deeply personal mission. Wilson believes that having firmer guidance and stronger positive influences during his own youth could have deterred him from making poor choices shaped by his environment. Channeling those life lessons into community action, he has built an organization focused on constructing bridges to success for youth in underserved communities.

The organization is looking to expand its reach and add new faces to the TWLUM family. Volunteer opportunities are highly flexible and open to students, young professionals, retirees, and any community members eager to give back. Incoming volunteers will have the chance to assist with a variety of core initiatives, including:

  • Youth Mentorship: Providing stable, positive guidance to local teenagers.

  • Community Service Projects: Leading and participating in local outreach events.

  • Leadership Development: Helping shape the next generation of community leaders through skill-building activities.

“Whether you have a few hours a month or a few hours a week, we welcome anyone who shares our passion for youth empowerment,” said founder Tyrone Wilson. “Join us, and help us give our youth the foundation they need to thrive.”
