Local Wells Fargo Advisors Office Hosted Shredding Event

May 17, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – May 17, 2011 – The Greenville office of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC hosted a complimentary shredding event for their clients, to provide them with a safe and confidential way to shred and dispose of unnecessary documents.

We invited all of our clients to stop by to securely shred their unnecessary documents and enjoy some barbeque, said Ike Poplin, Senior Vice President and Branch Manager of the Wells Fargo Advisors Greenville office.

Trucks were available in their parking lot for several hours allowing clients and community members to drive by and safely shred masses of paper and unnecessary confidential documents quickly and easily.

Every year, thousands of unsuspecting individuals are targeted for fraud and identity theft in a number of ways including sifting through victims’ trash. Secure and confidential shredding is an excellent way for our clients to protect themselves from identity theft as well as eliminate excess paper Poplin indicated.

This event was also an opportunity for Wells Fargo Advisors to show their support for the environment and give back to the community as all the shredded paper was recycled. Approximately 2,000 pounds of paper was shredded at this event. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, every ton of paper recycled saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space and 7,000 gallons of water – and enough energy to power the average American home for half a year.

When coupled with taking steps to avoid identity theft the event was a win win for the clients, the Firm, and the community.
