Lockhart Power donates $25,000 to United Way of the Piedmont for COVID-19 Response

May 7, 2020

United Way of the Piedmont is thrilled to announce that it has received $25,000 from Lockhart Power to support its United for All Fund for local COVID-19 relief.

The United for All Fund is a disaster relief fund that has been activated in response to COVID-19. The fund directly supports individuals and families in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties through United Way’s Community Resource Coordinator program. Funds can also be used to support other community partners who are significantly involved in relief efforts. Funds are primarily used to support families who have lost wages due to COVID-19 with expenses like rent/mortgage, utilities, and food.

“While Lockhart Power usually takes a low-key approach regarding publicizing the variety of local events and charitable organizations in which it invests, this time is different,” said Bryan Stone, President of Lockhart Power Company. “The economic damage being done by the pandemic to our local community is far too widespread for any one or even several of our local companies to offset. Our families, friends and favorite businesses are at risk, so we need every financially solid company and resident to play a part in stabilizing and restoring our local economy. Therefore, this announcement is also a call for action to all of you: please join us and others who have announced significant support with your own!”

Through its United for All Fund, United Way of the Piedmont has already assisted more than 125 households with assistance related to COVID-19. 52% of these families have never received assistance before. Paige Stephenson, United Way of the Piedmont President & CEO, says “We are so grateful for companies like Lockhart Power who understand the unique challenges our community is facing right now. By coming together with companies and individuals who are in a financial position to donate, we can beat COVID-19 and help our neighbors recover.”
