Logan named new head football coach at C.A. Johnson

COLUMBIA, SC – After a search by the school’s administrative team and athletics advisory committee, Demond Logan has been named the new head football coach at C.A. Johnson High School.

Logan brings 20 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels to C.A. Johnson. Currently a special education program and transition specialist in Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five, Logan formerly served as athletics director at Bethune-Bowman High School and director of football operations at Orangeburg-Calhoun Prep Academy. His duties at C.A. Johnson are effective July 1.

“Coach Logan’s vision for this program is to continue the mission of the school to prepare our student-athletes for success well beyond football,” said C.A. Johnson Principal Nathan White. “He sees great potential here at C.A. Johnson to build a program of which the entire community can be proud.”

At Orangeburg-Calhoun Prep, Logan helped lead the football team to a top five national ranking and to finishing the 2011 season as runners-up for the National Club Football Association championship.

Logan’s first coaching stint was at Riverdale (Georgia) High School where he served as an assistant coach and coordinator from 1996 to 2002. His first head coaching experience was at Richland One’s W.J. Keenan High School, where he led the Raiders football program from 2006 to 2008. He went on serve as the head football coach and athletics director at North High School from 2008 to 2011. In addition to coaching, Logan will be a special education teacher at C.A. Johnson.
