Lowcountry Food Bank receives $125,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation to supply healthy food to Coastal South Carolina neighbors
April 20, 2026Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) announced today that The Leon Levine Foundation gave the organization a $125,000 grant. This grant will help LCFB provide more than 300,000 healthy meals, including fresh produce, to households that experience food insecurity throughout coastal South Carolina.
Coastal South Carolina continues to face rising food insecurity driven by many factors, including rapid population growth, increased housing costs, and the seasonal nature of many local jobs in tourism and hospitality. For many families across the Lowcountry, especially in rural and historically underserved communities, a single unexpected expense or missed paycheck can make it difficult to put healthy food on the table. This grant helps ensure that the neighbors LCFB serves not only have consistent access to nutritious food, but also the stability needed to stay healthy, maintain employment, and support their families.
“This investment strengthens our ability to deliver not just food, but dignity and hope to our neighbors,” said Nick Osborne, LCFB President and CEO. “We are grateful for The Leon Levine Foundation’s partnership in advancing a nourished and thriving coastal South Carolina.”
