Lowcountry Food Bank receives $50,000 grant from Norfolk Southern
October 22, 2026Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) is proud to announce it has received a $50,000 grant from Norfolk Southern through its Thriving Communities Grant Program. The funding will support food distributions throughout the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina the organization serves, helping provide convenient access to healthy food to neighbors who experience food insecurity.
This grant is part of Norfolk Southern’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves across its 22-state network. Launched in 2023, Norfolk Southern’s open-application grant programs are designed to support organizations working to further the areas of safety, sustainability, workforce development, and community resilience.
“Ensuring our neighbors have reliable access to nutritious food takes strong community partnerships and the resources to bring food closer to where people live,” said Nick Osborne, President and CEO of Lowcountry Food Bank. “We are grateful to Norfolk Southern for this generous investment, which will help us distribute healthy food throughout the 10 coastal counties we serve and reach neighbors in communities where access can be especially challenging. Their support strengthens our ability to meet people where they are and build a more food-secure Lowcountry.”
“The Thriving Communities Grant Program supports initiatives that bolster local economies and promote long-term resilience,” said Kristin Wong, Director of the Norfolk Southern Foundation & Community Impact. “From sustainability efforts and job training to community-building programs, the grant empowers nonprofit and community organizations working to create lasting impact.”
