Lowe announces opening of Sweetgrass Inn, Village rebranding

April 15, 2021

Lowe announced the rebranding of The Village at Wild Dunes to The Residences at Sweetgrass, a collection of luxury vacation rental properties and retail outlets. Located at Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms, The Residences at Sweetgrass offer a collection of studio, one-, two- and three- bedroom suites and penthouses complete with Four Diamond amenities and impeccable service, just a short walk from the beach.

The rebrand includes updates to the Village Plaza’s existing retail spaces, new retailers and other significant improvements to the Plaza and aligns with the recent grand opening of Sweetgrass Inn, the Resort’s new 153-key hotel.

The Village Plaza has been renamed Sweetgrass Plaza, and the retail outlets are now The Shoppes at Sweetgrass. The Shoppes at Sweetgrass will soon welcome two new retailers along with a new art gallery that will feature an artist-in-residence program. Also included is a newly expanded salon which will service resort guests and local residents. A new sweets shop will open later this year and the existing Hudson’s Market will be renovated. Additional enhancements will be forthcoming. Both The Residences and The Shoppes will be adjacent to Sweetgrass Inn. The landscaping has been completely reimagined, and additional seating and programming will enliven the Plaza to provide a dramatic new amenity for the Resort.

“The rebranded offerings at The Residences and The Shoppes at Sweetgrass, in addition to our new Sweetgrass Inn, are valuable assets that demonstrate Lowe’s ongoing dedication to the community,” said Dan Battista, Lowe’s Senior Vice President & Southeast Regional Leader. “We are confident in the Resort’s leadership and their ability to continue Lowe’s thoughtful stewardship of Wild Dunes and commitment to the Isle of Palms community.”

In addition to the new hotel and Sweetgrass Plaza improvements, Robb Walker has joined Wild Dunes Resort as managing director overseeing the Resort. Walker brings significant resort experience, most recently as chief operating officer with Catalina Island Company and previously with Pacific Hospitality Group, Dolce Hotels and Resort and Benchmark Hospitality. John D’Angelo, formerly the opening general manager at Grand Hyatt Nashville and resort manager at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, was recently appointed as Wild Dunes Resort’s director of operations.

Lowe has partnered with Dart Interests in expanding Wild Dunes. Lowe and Dart Interests are also developing The Cooper, a 225-key hotel under development in downtown Charleston, adjacent to Waterfront Park.
