Lowes Foods Hosts Coffee with Friends — Lowcountry Food Bank Accepts Donation for Georgetown County

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC -The recent Coffee with Friends, an event hosted by Lowes Foods of Pawleys Island, and held around their Community Table, was highlighted by the presentation of a $2,000 check to the Lowcountry Food Bank. “This is exciting for us and comes at a time when it is most needed,” said the Food Bank’s Food Resource Manager, Amy Kosar, CFR.  “The demand for our services increases during the holidays, and this year is no exception.”

Lowes Foods, a Carolinas-born grocer, that puts community first, kicked off its own food drive in early November. Their Friends Feeding Friends program is one of the largest food drives in the Carolinas and has provided more than 15 million meals to date. Guests may participate in the program by purchasing pre-packaged donation bags of non-perishable Lowes Foods items, buying and giving non-perishable food items to in-store donation bins, or providing cash donations at the register through $1, $3, and $5 coupons. Guests may donate to the food drive at any Lowes Foods store across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia now through December 31.

Lowes Foods, which debuted its first concept store on the Grand Strand earlier this year with the opening of the Pawleys Island location, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its annual Friends Feeding Friendsfood drive. To date, they have raised more than 18 million pounds of food, and they are on track to reach their 20 million pound milestone by year-end.

“Lowes Foods is the local grocer that lives out its promise to help bring the community back to the table through our strong ties with local farms and suppliers, and our commitment to our neighbors,” said Tim Lowe, President of Lowes Foods. “Our Friends Feeding Friends food drive helps ensure that our neighbors have good food to eat, while also bringing our community together to support one another.”

“We are incredibly grateful for our guests and vendors, whose generosity has helped make Friends Feeding Friends successful,” said Lowe, “We’re equally happy to make this donation to the Lowcountry Food Bank,” he continued.
