M. B. Kahn breaks ground on headquarters expansion

April 20, 2026

M. B. Kahn, one of the Southeast’s leading construction firms, officially broke ground in April on a significant office addition and renovation at its corporate headquarters off Farrow Road. The project marks a historic milestone for the company, which has been in operation since 1927, as it prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

More than 75 local employees gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony and celebratory lunch to kick off the building program. In a move that highlights the company’s internal expertise, M. B. Kahn’s own construction team will manage the addition to the original 1980s-era building.

“It will be wonderful to see our team work together to reinvent the Columbia campus,” said Bret Estridge, President of M. B. Kahn. “The excitement is building; we’re ready to have our first meeting in the new space.”

The expansion features a new 4,200-square-foot entry building that will house a modern reception area, a large employee training room, two new conference rooms, and updated restrooms. Additionally, the project includes 1,500 square feet of interior renovations designed to create a spacious community room and a new outdoor patio for staff and clients.

According to Estridge, this investment reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional experience for its team and clients while supporting economic growth in Richland County and across South Carolina.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2027, aligning perfectly with the firm’s centennial celebration.
