Main Street Clinton Announces Leadership Transition and Expresses Gratitude to Director Jim Spry
July 29, 2026Main Street Clinton announces that Executive Director Jim Spry has resigned from his position to pursue new opportunities and projects. While we are saddened to see him leave, we are grateful for his dedication, service, and commitment to our downtown and community. Jim will stay connected to the Clinton Community because he and his wife, Mary Beth, call Clinton home and Mary Beth owns a wonderful business, Aspen & Figs, in downtown.
Jim accepted the role of Executive Director during an important chapter in Main Street Clinton’s history. Throughout his tenure, he worked to support downtown through community events, special projects, partnerships, and initiatives designed to encourage people to experience and invest in downtown Clinton. His dedication to the organization and willingness to serve helped move Main Street Clinton forward during a period of both opportunity and challenge.
One of the defining moments of Jim’s tenure came in August 2024 when the devastating downtown fire destroyed four historic buildings and displaced four local businesses, including his wife’s (Mary Beth) business, Aspen & Figs. While navigating that personal loss, Jim continued to serve Main Street Clinton and worked alongside city leaders, business owners, volunteers, and community partners as Clinton began the difficult process of recovery. His steady commitment during that time reflected his dedication to the community he has long called home.
“Jim stepped into a role that came with both opportunities and significant challenges,” said board member Susan Tallman. “Throughout his time with Main Street Clinton, he remained committed to serving our downtown and our community, particularly during one of the most difficult periods in our city’s recent history. We are grateful for his dedication and the work he has invested in Clinton. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank Jim for his service and wish him every success in the projects and opportunities ahead.”
The Main Street Clinton Board of Directors extends its sincere appreciation to Jim for his service and the lasting impact he has made. His work has helped strengthen the foundation for the continued revitalization of downtown Clinton, and we are thankful for the time and energy he devoted to our organization and community.
Main Street Clinton remains committed to its mission of supporting downtown businesses, encouraging economic vitality, preserving Clinton’s historic character, and creating meaningful experiences that strengthen our community. With that said, the organization will take a three month period to gather information, talk with merchants, talk with the City of Clinton, to decide what is in the best interest of the program, the downtown area, the citizens and so on.
We thank Jim for his service and look forward to seeing the positive contributions he will continue to make in Clinton and beyond.
