Main Street District engages community on Giving Tuesday, drawing attention to partner efforts on homelessness

December 6, 2021

The Main Street District put a unique spin on holiday giving by engaging with their social media followers ahead of Thanksgiving and Giving Tuesday. Via their Facebook and Instagram pages, they encouraged people to share a simple post and, in turn, they would give $2.17 for each share, representing a holiday meal at Transitions or Oliver Gospel Mission.

“We love highlighting the businesses in our downtown and our non-profits are kind of under the radar a lot. We had 276 people share our post, which resulted in us being able to donate $300 to both the Oliver Gospel Mission and Transitions”, said Jenna Bridgers, VP of Marketing for Main Street District. “Our followers are generous people, who love Main Street and the places and spaces that make it special.”

“We are so thankful for the work that these two organizations do, day in and day out. Our marketing committee thought this would be a meaningful way to engage with our audience, share more about these folks’ work, and maybe spur additional giving at a critical time. I think it was a ‘feel good’ win for everyone,” said Matt Kennell, CEO of the City Center Partnership.
