Makeready announces new leadership for Charleston’s Ryder Hotel

Makeready, the hospitality company that creates and operates independent brands through local influences, functional design and thoughtful restaurants and bars, has announced two new executive team members at The Ryder Hotel. Irvin Dinkel has been named the hotel’s new general manager and Codie Blue has been named director of sales at the boutique property in Charleston’s historic district. The appointing of these experienced hospitality professionals to Makeready’s expanding Charleston offerings, which also includes Emeline, Frannie & The Fox, Clerks Coffee Company and Hank’s Seafood Restaurant, will further build upon the engaging experiences being offered in the city.

With a passion for people, Irvin Dinkel brings extensive customer service, leadership and development experience to The Ryder Hotel in Charleston. His experience and zealousness for hospitality will further build upon the authentic experience offered by The Ryder team. Dinkel will work closely with Makeready’s leadership, who also operates the nearby award-winning hotel Emeline, to continue their reputation of delivering guests a memorable, high-quality experience. As General Manager, Dinkel will collaborate with The Ryder team to achieve the highest level of hospitality, delivering guests a unique and memorable experience.

Dinkel’s excitement for the hospitality industry began in high school while working as a server at a small hotel in Colby, Kan., where he would later work the front desk. He discovered a passion for luxury hotels while interning at The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch, and after graduating college, worked for The Ritz as a front desk agent, supervisor, front office manager and overnight manager. He developed an appreciation for independent boutique hotels, working at The Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Ark. and Hotel Teatro in Denver. In 2019 he joined the Makeready team as front office manager at Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek, before being promoted to director of operations at The Alida, in Savannah, Ga.

A highly talented sales professional, Codie Blue brings extensive experience to The Ryder as director of sales. With a focus on new business development, Blue is a passionate sales leader, experienced in luxury leisure and corporate accounts.

Codie Blue has been with Makeready since 2017. She previously served as area director of corporate & leisure travel and business & leisure travel sales manager at Makeready’s Noelle hotel in Nashville, Tenn, and area director of corporate & leisure travel at Emeline. Prior to joining the Makeready team, Codie worked for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Sheraton Nashville. Dedicated to maintaining a reputation built on quality, service and integrity, Blue will oversee the sales and marketing teams for The Ryder and Little Palm.

Blue is a graduate of UCLA, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a great passion for anthropology. Codie also has her Global Travel Professional® (GTP) accreditation from the Global Business Travel Association.
