Mark your calendars BBB® & AARP® secure your ID “Shred Day”

Better Business Bureau of the Upstate & AARP® South Carolina are partnering together to host Shred Day, a national event created to promote identity theft and fraud awareness.

On Friday, April 26, the Simpsonville shred event will be held from 9-12 at Heritage Park., 861 SE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29680. On Saturday, April 27, the Greenville shred event will be held from 8-11 at the BBB office, 408 N. Church St., Greenville SC 29601 and the Anderson shred event will be held from 8-11 at Anderson Mall (Back Entrance) Civic Center Blvd Entrance off Martin Luther King Blvd Anderson, SC 29621.

Individuals and businesses can take advantage of FREE on-site document shredding, electronic recycling, and take home practical tips to prevent identity theft online and off.

Goodwill® Industries will be on site at each location to recycle computer equipment such as monitors, printers and hard drives; all of which will be wiped by Goodwill® according to Department of Defense Standards.

Consumers are allowed to bring 3 small banker size boxes or 3 plastic bags of shredding. Cardboard boxes will be emptied and returned to consumer. Due to safety concerns and to ensure that as many vehicles as possible are served, foot traffic this year will not be accepted. Consumers will not be permitted to get out of their vehicle to watch their paper be shredded. The complimentary shred event is first come, first serve or until the shred trucks fill up, so coming early is advised.
