Mary Winter Teaster brokers expansion of Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. at 1516 Gregg Street in Columbia

May 10, 2021

Colliers | South Carolina’s Mary Winter Teaster represented the tenant, Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. (MIRCI), in the lease of a ±3,600-square-foot office building at 1516 Gregg Street in Columbia.

“MIRCI is pleased to announce the expansion of our outreach services at 1516 Gregg Street,” said Julie Plane, MIRCI’s clinical director. “We recognize that individuals who are experiencing homelessness and are diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness need extensive outreach to engage in services. The Outreach and Benefits Team will work with individuals to ensure pathways to behavioral health services and mainstream benefits while also assisting them in obtaining housing stability.”

MIRCI is a nonprofit organization serving the central South Carolina region with a mission to create pathways to recovery for individuals experiencing or at risk of mental illness and/or homelessness. Their activities help those recovering obtain self-confidence, adjust accordingly and live independently within the community.

1516 Gregg Street is a two-story medical office building in the heart of Columbia, near the Central Business District, Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, City of Columbia offices and Richland County Courthouse.

“It has been my distinct blessing to have been a part of MIRCI for 20 years as an advocate, board member, fundraiser and volunteer,” said Teaster. “We are preserving the lives of countless precious and vulnerable individuals and families by providing key resources and services to provide a path to productive and healthy lives.”
