Mauldin Fire Department Earns State ‘Fire Safe Community’ Designation

The Mauldin Fire Department has once again secured its status as a designated South Carolina Fire Safe Community, a recognition honoring local departments that demonstrate exceptional commitment to community risk reduction and public safety.
Deputy Fire Marshal Robbie Holloway accepted the award on behalf of both the department and the city during the annual South Carolina Fire-Rescue Conference held in Myrtle Beach.
The designation recognizes local fire departments that go beyond standard emergency response by actively working to mitigate hazards and prevent fires through aggressive public education, data tracking, and community programming.
A Unified Push for Public Safety
To earn the Fire Safe Community distinction, departments must meet rigorous annual benchmarks set by Fire Safe South Carolina. These requirements include educating personnel on advanced risk reduction strategies, maintaining detailed incident data collection, and identifying local high-risk fire patterns to deploy targeted interventions.
Mauldin fire officials emphasized that retaining this status underscores a sustained, collaborative effort across the city’s ranks.
