Mauldin First Responders Honored with Life Saving Awards at Countywide Cardiac Arrest Survivor Ceremony

More than a dozen members of the Mauldin Fire Department have been officially recognized for their heroic actions in the line of duty, receiving prestigious Life Saving Awards at the annual Greenville County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) Cardiac Arrest Survivor Ceremony.

The regional ceremony brings together survivors, families, healthcare professionals, and dispatchers to celebrate the “chain of survival” and honor the first responders whose swift intervention brought citizens back from clinical death. Since its inception, the countywide event has honored over a thousand first responders for their exceptional care during life-or-death emergencies.

Following the ceremony, the Mauldin Fire Department issued a statement praising the technical skill and composure displayed by their crew members under intense pressure.

“We would like to recognize the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of these personnel on receiving a Life Saving Award,” the department stated. “Their commitment to serving others and willingness to answer the call in critical moments truly reflects the values of this department and the city they proudly serve.”

According to the American Heart Association, immediate bystander CPR combined with rapid deployment of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and advanced life support from arriving fire and EMS crews can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.

The outstanding efforts of these 15 local responders underscore the vital role that municipal fire departments play as the tip of the spear in regional emergency medical responses, keeping Mauldin neighborhoods safer one critical call at a time.
