Mauldin Middle School Students Strike Gold and Silver at Festival Disney

The halls of Mauldin Middle School are echoing with a little extra pride this week following a triumphant performance by the school’s performing arts department at Festival Disney.

Dozens of students from the orchestra, choir, and band programs returned from Orlando, Florida, after a week of high-stakes competition, bringing home a collection of top-tier honors and awards.

A Sweep of Excellence

The Mustang musicians faced off against schools from across the country, judged by panels of world-class clinicians. The results were a testament to the students’ hard work and the strength of the local arts curriculum:

• Mauldin Middle Band: Earned a Superior rating and the prestigious Festival Disney Gold Award, placing them among the top-performing ensembles at the event.

• Mauldin Middle Choir: Also secured a Superior rating and was honored with the Festival Disney Silver Award.

• Mauldin Middle Orchestra: Brought home an Excellent rating for their performance.

Beyond the Competition

While the trophies are a highlight, the trip offered students more than just a chance to compete. Photos shared by the school show students exploring the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, celebrating their hard work in the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
