Mauldin police and fire departments partner to host free community car seat safety check
September 9, 2026Local first responders are teaming up this fall to help parents and caregivers keep young passengers safe on the road. The Mauldin Police Department and the Mauldin Fire Department announced they will co-host a free Community Car Seat Check on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The event runs from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mauldin Fire Department Headquarters, located at 955 W. Butler Road.
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, and studies consistently show that a significant percentage of child safety seats are installed incorrectly or improperly fitted to the child. During the two-hour event, certified technicians and first responders will be on-site to inspect existing car seats, assist with proper installation, ensure harness straps fit securely, and answer questions regarding age- and height-appropriate seat transitions.
The safety clinic is free and open to all Upstate families, parents, and caregivers.
