Mauldin Police Department partners with B93.7 and Torry for ‘In The Clutch’ handbag drive

September 30, 2026

The Mauldin Police Department is teaming up with radio host Torry from B93.7 once again this fall to collect handbags and hygiene essentials for local domestic violence survivors.

Through the annual “In The Clutch” donation initiative, community members are encouraged to donate gently used purses and fill them with essential personal care and feminine hygiene products. All collected bags directly benefit MARYS House (Ministry Alliance for Regaining Your Safety), a regional nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe shelter, support, and resources for women and children escaping domestic abuse.

The initiative turns pre-loved accessories into meaningful care packages for women who often arrive at crisis shelters with few or no personal belongings. Organizers invite donors to pack clean, gently used handbags with everyday necessities such as:

  • Feminine hygiene items (tampons, pads, and liners)

  • Full-size or travel toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash)

  • Deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and lotions

  • Small notes of encouragement, cosmetics, or hair care accessories

Residents can drop off filled handbags in the designated donation bin inside the Mauldin Police Department (5 E. Butler Road) as well as at additional participating City of Mauldin facilities and select area Ingles Markets.
