Mauldin’s ‘Haunted Castle’ Earns National Spotlight on Good Morning America for Jaw-Dropping Halloween Display
October 21, 2026What started as an annual neighborhood yard haunt has officially captured the eyes of the entire country.
The Haunted Castle of Mauldin, located at 503 Central Avenue, has reached a major milestone this spooky season after being featured nationally on ABC’s Good Morning America. The morning show spotlight celebrated the residence among the nation’s most jaw-dropping, elaborate home Halloween attractions, catapulting the local yard display into the national media conversation.
Created and curated by local home haunter Mark Thompson, the Central Avenue property transforms each October into an immersive horror experience that rivals professional scream parks. The sprawling walk-by display features an overwhelming army of life-size animatronics, towering skeletons, flying ghouls, eerie graveyard corridors, fog effects, and chilling lighting design—complete with creeping clowns, alien invaders, and sudden jump scares that thrill crowds throughout the evening.
The national television recognition follows a booming digital following, with the attraction drawing more than 6,000 followers online and packing Central Avenue with thousands of visitors from across the Upstate each fall.
With big crowds expected following the national broadcast, organizers and local officials remind prospective visitors to plan ahead when driving through the area:
-
Location: 503 Central Ave, Mauldin, SC 29662
-
Best Viewing Times: Evening hours after dusk offer the full theatrical experience with illuminated sets and fog machines running.
-
Neighborhood Etiquette: Roads along Central Avenue and surrounding side streets are narrow. Visitors are urged to drive slowly, park respectfully without blocking residential driveways, and walk along the sidewalk to experience the display on foot. Do not cross boundary fencing or trespass onto private lawns.
