Mayor Pro-Tem Hazel Livingston receives the WIMG Leadership Award at NLC Conference

LEXINGTON, SC – Mayor Pro-Tem Hazel Livingston was honored with the Women in Municipal Government (WIMG) Leadership Award at the National League of Cities Annual Conference on Friday, November 6, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The WIMG Leadership Award recognizes female municipal officials for their unique and outstanding leadership in local government. Each year, a winner is recognized for individual achievement in initiating a creative and successful program in local government that helps to improve a city or town’s quality of life for its citizens, particularly if the leadership serves as a specific mentoring model for future female leaders.

Mayor Pro-Tem Livingston has been a valued member of Lexington Town Council since 1998 and has served as Mayor Pro-Tem since 2004. She received the award due to her dedication to her community through such efforts as preserving the historic Palmetto Collegiate Institute, establishing the Lexington Beautification Foundation and its signature event Wine Walk on Main and rolling up her sleeves for the beautification of Lexington Square Park, I-20/Sunset Blvd. Interchange Beautification Project, “front porch” signage and smaller beautification corridors at pivotal intersections throughout the community.
