COLUMBIA, SC – Stephanie Weissenstein received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina in 2004 and joined McDonnell and Associates in May 2015. Weissenstein’s primary areas of experience are in professional licensing defense and ethics, family law, and appellate litigation.

During her more than ten years in private practice, Weissenstein has represented both South Carolina real estate attorneys and national title companies, offering consulting services in areas of closing compliance in South Carolina and trust account management, and defending her clients, when necessary, before the Commission on Lawyer Conduct and Office of Disciplinary Counsel. Weissenstein also represents professionals before the Boards at LLR and in appeals from board decisions. She looks forward to continuing this work at McDonnell and Associates while growing her family law practice.

In addition to practicing law, Weissenstein regularly appears as a speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars given through the South Carolina Bar, and she has guest lectured at the South Carolina School of Law in the Advanced Legal Profession class. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Ethics Advisory Committee, the South Carolina Bar Professional Responsibility Committee, and the South Carolina Association of Ethics Counsel. She is certified by the South Carolina Department of Labor License and Regulation Real Estate Commission as an instructor of the following courses: 3D Real Estate: Disclosures, Duties & Diligence; Integrated Mortgage Disclosure Rule; and Top Ten Ways to Be Disciplined. Weissenstein is studying for the South Carolina Rest Estate Broker exam and hopes to obtain her broker’s license soon.

Weissenstein is a valuable addition to McDonnell and Associates in that she can be used as a reference to lenders and clients in regards to South Carolina real estate closing procedure, LLR licensing issues, and family court matters.
