February 15, 2011

SPARTANBURG, SC – February 15, 2011 – McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture announces the completion of sustainability upgrades and a new athletic complex for Spartanburg Day School, along with the commencement of Architect of Record design services for a new Upper School on the campus.

Completed within a compressed 90-day schedule, existing building energy efficiencies were increased through a new geothermal HVAC system, lighting and lighting controls, and new ceiling systems, exterior doors, and windows.  The athletic project renovated 8,600 SF and added 20,000 SF of new space to include a weight room, multi-purpose room, locker rooms, and a 600-seat competition gymnasium.

The Upper School is a new 27,000 SF facility featuring classrooms, labs, a 55-seat seminar room, and other academic spaces, currently under construction. All three projects are seeking LEED Certification by the US Green Building Council.
