McMillan Pazdan Smith’s Gene Bell accepted into Leadership Columbia Class of 2023

September 13, 2022

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture announced that architect and former AIA South Carolina President Gene Bell was accepted into the Leadership Columbia Class of 2023. Offered through the Columbia Chamber, Leadership Columbia is a signature leadership program for the region, focused on skill building and leadership development while providing an educational experience with a strong emphasis on social and community awareness.

Bell brings diverse leadership experience and a strong portfolio to the class, having managed award-winning projects across the state of South Carolina including the City of Columbia’s Water and Wastewater Division Facility, the Technical College of the Lowcountry’s Angus Cotton Multipurpose Building and Midlands Technical College’s Harbison Theater.

His community involvement includes serving on the City of Columbia’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, the Columbia Design League (as President and Treasurer) and as a trustee of the South Carolina Architectural Foundation. Bell works out of McMillan Pazdan Smith’s Columbia office (and was with Watson Tate Savory there prior to their merger with MPS).

Bell is a graduate of Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Design and a Master of Architecture. In his free time, he enjoys working in his woodshop, running with friends, or visiting a South Carolina State Park with his wife and 3 children.
