McNair Attorney Rita M. McKinney named new Managing Shareholder of the Firm’s Upstate Unit

GREENVILLE, SC – October 10, 2011 – McNair Law Firm, P.A. is pleased to announce that Greenville native, Rita M. McKinney has been elected managing shareholder of the firm’s Upstate Unit. In this role, she will have management oversight of the firm’s Anderson and Greenville, South Carolina offices. Ms. McKinney joined the firm in 1992 as a partner.
Ms. McKinney expressed her excitement over her new role at McNair. “I’m excited to be working closely with our firm’s Managing Shareholder and CEO, David Tigges, as well as our Upstate Unit as we continue to grow the Unit in a manner designed to provide the best service to our clients. Ms. McKinney focuses her practice on employment law, physician representation and business litigation. Her past experience as Director of the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (1999 – 2003), enables her to provide counsel on a broad range of employment, workplace, safety, and occupational and professional licensing/disciplinary issues.
Ms. McKinney has extensive involvement in community service and professional activities, particularly in the areas of higher education, health care and the arts. She served on the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees, the Greenville Hospital System Board of Trustees and the Columbia College Board of Visitors. Currently, she is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Greenville Symphony. Ms. McKinney is a past-President of the Greenville County Bar Association and was a member of the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors.
Ms. McKinney has been repeatedly named one of the Best Lawyers in America®. She received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law and served as law clerk to the late United States District Court Judge Matthew J. Perry.
