McNair Expands Environmental Practice with Stacy Taylor

July 14, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – McNair Law Firm continues to expand its environmental practice with the addition of Stacy Taylor, who joins the firm’s Columbia office as a shareholder.

Stacy brings to the firm a valuable combination of regulatory, transactional and litigation experience in the environmental arena, having represented mid-market to multinational clients in a broad range of environmental and natural resources issues. Stacy has substantial experience guiding clients through complex environmental regulatory programs, including compliance advice related to air, water, wetlands, and solid and hazardous waste; internal compliance audits; brownfield redevelopment and voluntary cleanup contracts; and the manufacture/import of substances regulated by the Toxic Substances Control Act. He regularly serves as counsel in complex enforcement actions by state and federal agencies, permitting (and permit appeals) and in litigation over environmental cleanup costs and toxic tort claims. Stacy also assists clients with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issues, particularly those related to hazardous substances, as well as defending clients in OSHA investigations.

“Stacy is a seasoned environmental lawyer and litigator with a science background and a deep knowledge of environmental policy, regulations and rulemaking, as well as workplace compliance requirements,” said Michael Beal, Columbia’s managing shareholder. “His move to McNair comes at a critical time for our clients, who are navigating increasingly complex environmental regulations. We are thrilled to welcome Stacy to our growing environmental team.”

Stacy’s arrival comes on the heels of the addition of shareholder Pam Baker, who returned to McNair’s environmental team in June.

Stacy is a frequent author and speaker on a broad range of environmental topics. He is actively involved in a number of professional organizations, is a past chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Section of the South Carolina Bar, and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Environmental Law since 2013.

Stacy graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University with a B.S. in Aquaculture, Fisheries, and Wildlife Biology. He received his Master of Forest Resources degree from the University of Georgia, and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
