Mechanical Engineer Joins GMK’s Architecture and Engineering Division

COLUMBIA, SC –  GMK Associates, Inc., announced the hiring of Brian L. McDaniel, EIT, as a mechanical engineer in the firm’s Architecture and Engineering Division. In this role, Mr. McDaniel will develop designs for the installation of various mechanical systems for new and renovated facilities. His duties will include assisting with planning, evaluating, and implementing approaches to meet mechanical project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.

Screen Shot 2015-04-14 at 8.06.41 PMMr. McDaniel possesses over 10 years of experience in mechanical and process engineering with an emphasis on HVAC system design as well as new product development, process improvement, quality and safety assurance, and lean manufacturing. He joins GMK from Columbia, SC-based Mechanical Engineering Consulting Associates, Inc. (MECA) where he was a mechanical engineer responsible for the design of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects primarily within the education, healthcare, office, and warehouse markets. He further supported all aspects of mechanical design projects, from initial site surveys to coordination of project standards/requirements to completion of final system designs. Earlier in his career, Mr. McDaniel served as a process engineer with manufacturing firms Alcoa Dixie Wire in Nashville, TN, and General Cable in Dayville, CT. He has also enjoyed success as a multi-store manager for Family Video in Newberry, SC, and as an account manager/estimator with Boozer Lumber Company in Columbia, SC.

Mr. McDaniel is an Engineer in Training (EIT) in South Carolina and holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University. He is also an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Mr. McDaniel is proficient in the latest versions of AutoCAD and Revit Design Suite and has further received training as a process engineering co-op student at Alcoa Fujikara, Ltd., a worldwide manufacturer, engineer and installer of fiber optic products and equipment.
