Medal of Honor 2010 Convention announces “21 Star” Advisory Council

COLUMBIA, SC – April 18, 2009 – The Medal of Honor Society’s 2010 Convention project has announced its nine-member advisory council composed of six retired general officers, two flag officers, and a Navy captain totaling 21 stars (so far) and a “full bird.”

The advisory council includes:

• Four-star Gen. Lloyd W. Newton, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
• Lt. Gen. (three stars) Garry L. Parks, U.S. Marine Corps (ret.)
• Lt. Gen. John Bruce Blount, U.S. Army (ret.)
• Lt. Gen. Thomas G. McInerney, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
• Vice Adm. Edwin R. Kohn, U.S. Navy (ret.)
• Maj. Gen. (two stars) Paul E. Vallely, U.S. Army (ret.)
• Rear Adm. James H. Flatley III, U.S. Navy (ret.)
• Brig. Gen. (single star) Jim Cash, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
• Capt. Louis Colbus, U.S. Navy (ret.)

Columbia’s Brig. Gen. Eugene F. Rogers (Joint Services Detachment, S.C. Military Department) is the senior project officer for the 2010 convention and a founder of Columbia-based law firm Rogers Townsend & Thomas.

“The commitment of these distinguished officers – and others whom we are talking with – speaks to the level of enthusiasm we are experiencing on all fronts as we move forward toward this greatest of military conventions in our state’s history,” says Rogers.
