Melinda Davis Lux Chosen to Participate in Leadership South Carolina

September 7, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – September 7, 2011 –Wyche attorney Melinda Davis Lux is one of 51 individuals chosen to participate in the 2012 class of Leadership South Carolina, one of the oldest and most respected statewide leadership programs. The program, which is supported by Clemson University’s Institute for Economic and Community Development at the Sandhill Research and Education Center, provides gifted and highly motivated South Carolinians an opportunity to advance their leadership qualities while broadening their understanding of issues facing the state. The program kicks off with orientation in Columbia this week and continues for the next nine months, with events hosted around the state dedicated to issues, such as education, health care, and the economy.

I am really looking forward to interacting with this energized and engaged group of leaders and diving into some of these important issues at orientation this week, said Davis Lux. I know I’ll bring back a wealth of information and ideas that I can share with my colleagues and fellow leaders here in the Upstate.

Participants are selected through a competitive process by a committee, with major emphasis placed on the individual’s demonstrated abilities as a leader and on their personal past record of service in a leadership capacity. Davis Lux is certainly a good fit for the program, as she currently serves as a Board member for Clemson’s Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the Greenville Small Business Development Corporation, the Greenville Symphony Association, and Greenville County First Steps. She is also a graduate of both the Liberty Fellow and Leadership Greenville programs and received the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year award in 2009.

As an attorney with Wyche, Davis Lux focuses her legal practice on complex corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and debt financings. She has taught courses on entrepreneurship and business negotiations at Clemson University College of Business and Behavioral Science and University of South Carolina Upstate College of Business and Economics. She is a graduate of Yale Law School and received her MBA through Clemson University.
