Memorial Ride to Celebrate the Life of Hunter Sipes Set for May 3 in Clinton
April 23, 2025Each year in May, the Clinton community comes together to remember and celebrate the life of Hunter Sipes through a heartfelt event that continues to grow in meaning and support. The 2025 Memorial Ride honoring Hunter will take place on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Whiteford’s Drive-In in Clinton.
Hunter Sipes, who would have turned 24 this year, was a beloved son, friend, and firefighter-in-training with the Clinton Fire Department. He was actively working toward his dream of serving the community when his life was tragically cut short. The Memorial Ride was established as a way to keep Hunter’s memory alive and to celebrate his birthday with the kind of love, community, and joy he brought to others.
Participants are invited to bring any type of ride—motorcycles, trucks, and cars —as they travel a route through Clinton that includes a visit to Rosemont Cemetery, where Hunter is laid to rest. The ride departs from Whiteford’s Drive-In at 10:00 a.m., travels through town, and returns for a special butterfly release in his honor.
The event is free and open to the public, and the entire community is encouraged to attend. Alongside the ride, there will be activities for children and families, with face painting, games, and giveaways provided by local first responders and community partners. Participating organizations include the Clinton Fire Department, Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, SC Highway Patrol, Joanna Volunteer Fire Department, and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
“The ride only lasts about an hour and a half, but the impact it makes is lasting,” said one of the event’s organizers. “It’s about keeping Hunter’s spirit alive through fellowship, fun, and community.”
The route will take riders from Whiteford’s through Clinton, with stops at Rosemont Cemetery, a pass by Springdale Drive, and then back along East Carolina Avenue to South Broad Street before returning to Whiteford’s for the butterfly release and birthday celebration.
Whether you’re on two wheels or four, or simply want to stand in support, come join the Whiteford family and the Clinton community to honor a young man who gave so much in such a short time.
