Meyers Receives Associate Member Award from SC Motorcoach Association

September 13, 2008

COLUMBIA, SC – September 12, 2008 – Louise Meyers, Capital City/Lake Murray Country’s Group Tour Coordinator, received the “Associate of the Year” award at the South Carolina Motorcoach Association’s (SCMCA) Annual Meeting, held at the Radisson Hotel, August 24-28, 2008.

Each year, the award is given to an associate member to recognize them for their professionalism, efforts to follow up with contacts and quality of service. Meyers was selected from 220 members.

“The award is MCASC’s distinguished member award which not only embraces recognition of professional representation of their venue, in this case destination, and service to operators over the past year, but it is also the operators’ way of recognizing Louise in a special way because of her attitude and enthusiasm for the industry, said Linda Morris, Executive Director, South Carolina Motorcoach Association.

Capital City/Lake Murray Country hosted SCMCA’s annual meeting.  During their visit, the operators took day trips within the region including downtown Columbia, Lake Murray, Lexington and Newberry.  The operators collected information on area attractions, restaurants and other group-friendly facilities to possibly bring back groups to the region.

“Capital City/Lake Murray Country hosted the 2008 annual meeting in a first-class fashion. That truly epitomizes the goal of the Association in determining to hold the meeting in Columbia. That is, to give members an opportunity to experience the area for future group tour business. Many times experiencing the area creates new itineraries, which would not have happened otherwise. Today’s issues with fuel cost increases and the resulting high cost of other commodities, make traveling in your backyard (in your state) an attractive option. Certainly, Louise and the Capital City/Lake Murray Country partners accomplished this. The idea is not just to bring revenue to the area, but new ideas and new itineraries help keep the coaches rolling on the highways, which results in revenue for the operators,” Morris said.

“We are proud Louise received this well deserved recognition, states Miriam Atria, President/CEO of Capital City Lake Murray Country.  Her continued efforts for over ten years have paid large dividends for our region not to mention the regional and national exposure Louise continues to receive from having large numbers of appointments at the group tour trade show events. This clearly shows there is an interest in motorcoach tours coming to our area.”
