Midlands Gives raises $3.7 million in 12th annual giving day

May 15, 2025

The 12th annual Midlands Gives Day raised $3.7 million for local nonprofits across 11 South Carolina counties. Hosted by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, the event brought the total amount raised since the initiative began in 2014 to over $32.4 million.

This year, 10,568 donors made 17,066 individual donations to 580 nonprofit organizations through the Midlands Gives platform.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Midlands nonprofits woke up today with over $3.7 million more than yesterday—resources that will feed families, shelter animals, support the arts, and uplift our neighbors across 11 counties,” said Erin Johnson, Vice President of Community Investment at Central Carolina Community Foundation.

“Midlands Gives has become a tradition of generosity that grows stronger every year. Yesterday wasn’t just about dollars—it was about people coming together to invest in a better future for our local communities,” added Georgia Mjartan, President & CEO of the Foundation.

In addition to individual donations, $108,000 in prize incentives was contributed by corporate partners through the Foundation’s “In Good Company” network. Participating companies included Aflac, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Southeastern Freight Lines, and others. The incentives were designed to amplify the impact of individual donations.

Four regional affiliate foundations also received a combined total of $39,449 in matching funds to support local giving:

  • Greater Chapin Community Foundation: $7,418 to 22 nonprofits

  • Kershaw County Community Foundation: $6,121 to 23 nonprofits

  • Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties Community Foundation: $18,916 to 35 nonprofits

  • Sumter Community Foundation: $6,994 to 22 nonprofits

Central Carolina Community Foundation oversees these regional affiliates.

Beyond the online platform, Midlands Gives Day included a community celebration at Segra Park called the Midlands Gives Block Party. The event brought together residents and nonprofit representatives to recognize the day’s efforts.

While Midlands Gives is best known for its 24-hour giving event each May, the platform remains open year-round for those interested in supporting area nonprofits. More information is available at www.MidlandsGives.org.
