Caring for Creation 2013:Building your Green Team and The Power of Inter-faith Community Partnerships.

The Midlands Green Congregation Initiative, a project of area faith based organizations, Sustainable Midlands, the City of Columbia CPAC & Richland County Conservation Commission, is pleased to announce the 2013 kickoff event Caring for Creation 2013: Building your Green Team and The Power of Community Partnerships. 

An opportunity to meet and network with local congregational green team members and hear about their programs and initiatives to care for creation.  Learn how to start a Caring for Creation initiative in your congregation or how to make your initiative stronger! 

Judy Timmons, Green Team Leader at Forrest Lake Presbyterian Church, will speak about the impact of joining forces with the neighboring congregations on Trenholm Road.  Hear about their experience of building a Green Habitat for Humanity House!  Attendees will then interact with seasoned Green Congregation Teams that will have displays and information on the success and challenges of their efforts.  

The event is for congregations interested in:

  • Reducing operating costs
  • Reducing solid waste costs 
  • Being stewards of the earth
  • Attracting new and younger members 
  • Developing new leaders

Free and open to all, come learn how to start a caring for creation team at your church, synagogue or mosgue!
