Midlands Technical College ranked #1 among S.C. colleges and universities

Midlands Technical College has been named as one of the best employers in South Carolina. In August, Forbes released its annual list of America’s Best Employers by State.

Midlands Technical College ranked #1 among colleges and universities as well as #2 overall. MTC was second only to UPS on South Carolina’s list, edging out the likes of Honeywell International, Publix Super Markets, and Atrium Health.

This ranking comes from data compiled by Statista, a market research company. It surveyed 80,000 Americans who work for businesses or organizations with at least 500 employees. These rankings hold a special level of prestige considering that employers across the nation faced unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year.

“Our recent ranking by Forbes is a welcomed recognition of our collegewide efforts to be the best in class for both students and employees,” says MTC President Dr. Ron Rhames. It is an honor to be ranked highly amongst the best employers of our state.”

The employees surveyed by Statista were asked to rate employers based on various criteria:

• work environment safety
• compensation competitiveness
• opportunities for advancement

Many of the top-rated employers also received high marks for their ability to offer allowances like remote working opportunities that arose in response to the pandemic.
