Midlands Technical College wins four awards in statewide communications and marketing competition

January 7, 2016

Midlands Technical College (MTC) received four Palmetto Awards from the South Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC-SC) for its recent marketing rebrand involving advertising, social media and digital communications.

MTC won awards in the following categories:

  • Award of Excellence: The Real Deal Advertising Campaign
  • Award of Excellence: Refining Midlands Technical College Brand Communication
  • Award of Merit: Midlandstech.edu Digital Communication Channels
  • Award of Merit: Let’s Get Social – Social Media Programs

“The rebrand of MTC was designed to position the college as a first-tier, first-choice competitor in providing higher education and training opportunities to the communities it serves,” said Dr. Ronald Rhames, president of Midlands Technical College. “Within the first year of the rebrand, enrollment at MTC has grown 16 percent, and the college welcomed its largest freshman class in its history this past fall.”

The IABC-SC Palmetto Awards were created in 1999 to recognize outstanding work in the communications field and foster professional development among communicators. Judged by an out-of-state panel, the awards provide the opportunity for communicators to display their talents in communication planning, publication writing and design, feature writing, electronic communication and public relations and crisis communication campaigns.
